This Week: Tonight, Tyrone Wells brings his “Cover to Cover” tour to the club. East Nashville songwriter and “Outlaw Country” radio host Elizabeth Cook is here Friday at 8:30 p.m. with songwriter Don Gallardo. 

This Weekend: Journalist Mark Caro teams up with songwriter Steve Dawson to discuss the creative process at our special matinee show on Saturday at 1 p.m. On Saturday night, Robbie Fulks brings together a crack band (Duke Levine, Nora O’Connor, Scott Ligon, Todd Phillips and Alex Hall) to perform songs from his recent album, Upland Stories , as well as music from his back catalog as well as new and unreleased songs. On Sunday, country-rock pioneer Jim Messina comes to SPACE for a special full-band concert.

Also this Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m., SPACE partners with Evanston Oktoberfest, presenting music from The Dave Specter Blues Band and The Western Elstons. The beer festival takes place at 1818 Maple Ave., and features local vendors like Temperance Beer Co., Sketchbook Brewing and more. 

Coming Up: Next Tuesday, Oct. 18, Maria Muldaur brings her New Orleans-flavored “Bluesiana” band to SPACE. Next Wednesday, Cuban jazz pianist Harold Lopez-Nussa performs with his trio in support of his new album, El Viaje. Minneapolis songwriter Mason Jennings returns to SPACE on Saturday, Oct. 22, in support of his most recent album, Wild Dark Metal. Louisiana bluesman Eric Lindell is here for a special solo show on Oct. 27. And Chicago native Eric D. Johnson (pictured) brings his revitalized Fruit Bats project to SPACE on Friday, Oct. 28.

SPACE Partners with Evanston Oktoberfest on October 16

SPACE is excited to present music for the second annual Evanston Oktoberfest on Oct. 16, to be held at 1818 Maple Avenue (parking lot behind Hilton Garden Inn). The festival will feature Evanston breweries Smylie Brothers, Sketchbook Brewing Company, Temperance Beer Co., Peckish Pig and distillery FEW Spirits, as well as new breweries including Ten-Ninety, Half Acre Beer Company, Hopewell Brewing Company and Alarmist Brewing. SPACE will present sets by DJ Dustin Harris, The Dave Specter Blues Band featuring Jimmy Johnson, and Chicago country-western band The Western Elstons, featuring Casey McDonough, Scott Ligon, Alex Hall and Joel Paterson (pictured). Tickets are $10 for general admission or $15 for early entrance. This year, beer tickets are purchased separately.
