We’re excited to announce SPACE Radio! Every month, we’ll be inviting artists to join us in our studios to help tell the stories behind their songs for our podcast. We’ll also feature music that was performed at SPACE in front of a live audience as well as exclusive tracks that were recorded in our studios.
Episode 1 of the podcast features music from John Oates, Stephen Kellogg, Jon McLaughlin, Wil Blades, Nora O’Connor, Justin Townes Earle, Lake Street Dive, Shovels & Rope as well as introductions from some of the artists.

Next month: Look for music and stories by Patterson Hood, Water Liars, Genevieve, and more.
Legendary songwriter John Oates brought his ace band — comprised of lead guitarist Guthrie Trapp, drummer John Michel and bassist Michael Jude — to SPACE on Nov. 8, 2014. The band treated the sold-out crowd that night to Hall & Oates favorites like “Maneater” and “You Make My Dreams Come True,” and also dipped into Oates’ repertoire of folk songs, like the Canadian duo Fraser & DeBolt’s “Dance Hall Girls” and Mississippi John Hurt’s “Pallet,” both songs off his 2011 solo album, Mississippi Mile.
With Oates’ blessing, SPACE recorded a live version of his song “Camelia,” the lead track from Hall & Oates’ self-titled fourth album, released in 1975. Now we’re making the track available for fans to stream via the SoundCloud player below.
This week, we’ve got a great batch of new shows that will help warm your bones this winter, including feel-good Zydeco master Terrance Simien on Jan. 23; nonpareil finger-style guitarist Leo Kottke on Feb. 4; and a not-to-be-missed concert with Portland Cello Project on Feb. 20. Here’s the complete list:
The Subdudes / Leo Kottke / Willie Nile / Ronnie Baker Brooks / Commander Cody / Terrance Simien & The Zydeco Experience / Portland Cello Project / New Orleans Suspects / Radney Foster / Way Down Wanderers and Chicago Farmer / Anne Heaton / Frank Vignola and Vinny Raniolo / Nora O’Connor / American English

Tonight, SPACE is excited to welcome John Oates — one-half of the legendary duo Hall & Oates — for a headline appearance on Saturday. Only a few tickets remain, so act fast if you want to catch one of pop music’s all-time heroes!
Last up, if you’re a fan of comeback soul singers like Sharon Jones, Charles Bradley or Lee Fields, don’t miss Minneapolis old-school soul man Sonny Knight on Sunday night in SPACE’s main room. After recording as a teenager in the ’60s, Knight left the music biz, only to return this year with a new album called I’m Still Here. Check out a great video of Sonny performing with his band The Lakers below. (Also on Sunday: We’ve got Austin-based singer-songwriter Matt the Electrician in the studios.)
