This Week: Tonight, Tyrone Wells brings his “Cover to Cover” tour to the club. East Nashville songwriter and “Outlaw Country” radio host Elizabeth Cook is here Friday at 8:30 p.m. with songwriter Don Gallardo.
This Weekend: Journalist Mark Caro teams up with songwriter Steve Dawson to discuss the creative process at our special matinee show on Saturday at 1 p.m. On Saturday night, Robbie Fulks brings together a crack band (Duke Levine, Nora O’Connor, Scott Ligon, Todd Phillips and Alex Hall) to perform songs from his recent album, Upland Stories , as well as music from his back catalog as well as new and unreleased songs. On Sunday, country-rock pioneer Jim Messina comes to SPACE for a special full-band concert.
Also this Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m., SPACE partners with Evanston Oktoberfest, presenting music from The Dave Specter Blues Band and The Western Elstons. The beer festival takes place at 1818 Maple Ave., and features local vendors like Temperance Beer Co., Sketchbook Brewing and more.
Coming Up: Next Tuesday, Oct. 18, Maria Muldaur brings her New Orleans-flavored “Bluesiana” band to SPACE. Next Wednesday, Cuban jazz pianist Harold Lopez-Nussa performs with his trio in support of his new album, El Viaje. Minneapolis songwriter Mason Jennings returns to SPACE on Saturday, Oct. 22, in support of his most recent album, Wild Dark Metal. Louisiana bluesman Eric Lindell is here for a special solo show on Oct. 27. And Chicago native Eric D. Johnson (pictured) brings his revitalized Fruit Bats project to SPACE on Friday, Oct. 28.
On Sale Now! New Orleans bluesman Eric Lindell returns to SPACE in October for a very special solo show. Soulful Chicago singer Cathy Richardson brings her band back to the club over Thanksgiving weekend in November. British folk-rock duo Chad & Jeremy will tour the States this fall, making a return visit to SPACE in October. J. Geils Band harmonica man Magic Dick has formed a new duo with guitarist Shun Ng. They’re here this fall for a special co-bill with The Slide Brothers. These shows are on sale now via evanstonspace.com. And don’t forget that tickets for Wililam Fitzsimmons plus special guest Laura Burhenn (of The Mynabirds) went on sale today at 10 a.m. You can also visit our box office between 5-9 p.m. to pick up tickets in person tonight and Saturday.
This Weekend: We’re kicking off Labor Day weekend tonight with Michael McDermott’s The Westies along with special guest Don Gallardo, a Nashville by-way-of California songwriter who’s here in support of his new album, Hickory. Listen to Gallardo’s “Diamonds & Gold” below. On Saturday, the all-star Chicago Women in the Blues return to the club.
Coming Up: Next Wednesday, Arizona Americana rockers Jared & The Mill are here with Denver trio Edison. On Thursday, we’re excited to have Brooklyn indie-folk songwriter Gabriel Kahane back at the club. He’s one of our favorite emerging artists, so we hope you’ll check him out. Next Friday, it’s an action-packed night with NRBQ vs. Los Straitjackets. Portland Cello Project returns next Saturday. And next Sunday brings Dave Alvin and brother Phil Alvin back to the club for a special acoustic show.
