Jazz fans won’t want to miss these upcoming shows at SPACE, including legendary bassist Marcus Miller, British phenom Jacob Collier and genre-defying guitarist John Scofield.

Tomorrow night, world-renowned electric bassist and two-time Grammy-winner Marcus Miller returns to the club. As a producer, writer and player, Miller was the last primary collaborator of jazz legend Miles Davis, composing the title track and co-producing the album Tutu.

With a unique artistic vision driven by spontaneity and what some would call musical telepathy, Wertico Cain & Gray cultivate a distinct creative energy as they explore new worlds of sound-making. Led by Grammy-winning drummer Paul Wertico, the trio composes and orchestrates everything in real-time, melting acoustic and electronic sounds with new-tech and word-tech. The trio will take the stage at SPACE this Thursday, Aug. 11.

London-based musician Jacob Collier is recognized as an inventive and prodigious young talent. Just 22 years old, Collier gained recognition through his YouTube channel, displaying his uniquely creative one-man, multi-instrumentalist, multi-visual format to the world. His newly-released debut album, In My Room, and his live performances over the past year have earned him The Guardian’s praise as “jazz music’s new messiah.” Collier takes the stage at SPACE on Sept. 21.

Saxophonist Colin Stetson “demolishes clichés to unleash fresh, unexpected energies,” writes Pitchfork. “It’s like being inside an enormous brass tunnel full of windy byways and slamming valves, at once exhilarating and frightening.” Stetson has performed and recorded with a number of impressive acts over the years, including Arcade Fire, Bon Iver and Feist. Stetson’s widely acclamied solo albums are fraught with intensity and originality, establishing him as a wonderfully unique composer and performer. Stetson will perform at SPACE on Sept. 28.

Arturo Sandoval is revered as a legendary jazz trumpeter, composer and dynamic and vivacious live performer. The 10-time Grammy Award winner has worked with everyone from Dizzy Gillespie and Stan Getz to Frank Sinatra and Alicia Keys. Sandoval will be here for two shows with his stellar band on Sept. 29.

John Scofield‘s guitar work has influenced jazz since the late ’70s through today. Possessing a distinctive sound and stylistic diversity, Scofield is a masterful jazz improviser whose music generally falls somewhere between post-bop, funk-edged jazz and R&B. In the early to mid-1980s, Scofield toured and recorded with Miles Davis, bringing his abilities as a jazz player and performer to the foreground of jazz consciousness. Scofield is coming to SPACE in support of his new album, Country For Old Men, on Oct. 5.

Cuban jazz pianist Harold López-Nussa‘s talent and versatality have shown him success in the worlds of classical, jazz and popular music. He has performed as a soloist at Cuba’s most important theaters, as well as with the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra, Holguín Symphony Orchestra, Matanzas Symphony Orchestra and Havana Lyceum Mozartiano. López-Nussa will take the stage at SPACE on Oct. 19.
