SPACE Recognized by DownBeat Magazine as one of “World’s Best Jazz Venues”

We are excited to announce that in the upcoming month of February, SPACE will be honored as one of DownBeat Magazine’s Top Jazz Venues in the world. That’s right. The WORLD. Downbeat Magazine started right here in Chicago during 1934, and since then has been one of the premier voices regarding all things jazz and blues. Needless to say, everyone here at SPACE is humbled by Downbeat’s kind words and recognition.

Downbeat Magazine

2013 featured some outstanding jazz performances at SPACE (including the likes of Brad Mehldau, Chick Corea, Wil Blades, Billy Cobham and many more), and we will start our 2014 jazz series with a bang on Jan. 3rd, featuring a performance by the great jazz guitarist, Larry Corryell featuring Paul Wertico and Larry Gray.

We invite you to enjoy your next jazz show with us at SPACE. As a city with a rich musical culture, Chicago has historically made a great home for jazz and the blues. We take great pleasure in being a part of that story by continuing to showcase the jazz and blues of local natives and national favorites, year in and year out. As we enter the new year, keep your eyes peeled and your ears open for some great jazz at SPACE, which will include Henry Butler, Terence Blanchard, Maceo Parker, Stanley Clarke, and Cecile McLorin Salvant. We look forward to helping make 2014 another great year for live jazz in Chicago, alongside these all-star musicians and our many, wonderful friends!
